In order to keep our fees low, we do require parents to volunteer in order to raise funds for the club.  We do this primarily through bingos, however there are other opportunities available to fulfill your volunteer and fundraising requirments.

BlueWater Competitions
As a member of the Bluewater Region, we are required to staff certain competitions within the region with volunteers.  This ensures that we get a portion of the profits from regional competitions as a member of the Bluewater Region.  Futures West Competition is set for March 5 and March 6, 2011 in Point Edward.  Our club will share the volunteer responsibility of Skater Registration with the Thedford Skating Club.  Please email akellestine@gmail.com if you are able to work a minimum 5-hour shift on one or both of these days.  We will also need to staff a competition in April.  Please email Cheri-Lin for details and dates.

Glencoe Fair Dance - Bartending
For the past several years, our club has been bartending at the Glencoe Fair Dance.  What a fun and interesting way to help the Glencoe Agricultural Society!  We require approximately 12 volunteers, of which a minimum of 50% must be Smart Serve Certified.  If you can pour a beer or shot, you qualify!!  Because the dance takes place the week prior to the start of the skating season, it is important that you convey your availability to akellestine@gmail.com or president@glencoeskatingclub.com prior to the second week of September.

Skater Lottery Tickets
All parents are required to sell a minimum of one book consisting of 20 tickets at $2 each ($40 total) as a contribution to the club.  The are provided at the beginning of the skating season and books must be turned in before the second week of February.

50/50 Tickets
Occassionally, our club runs 50/50 Draws to help cover certain costs related to running the club.  Each family is expected to participate by selling tickets.  Sufficient notice will be given pertaining to draw dates and expectations.

Other
We may offer other fundraising activities and will keep all members posted on details and deadlines.

We require a minimum of 1 volunteer to staff each bingo.  Preferably, 2 volunteers per bingo.  As a member, you are required to work 2 bingos per child to a maximum of 3 bingos per family.  If you wish, you may "pay out" your bingo requirement at the set rate and we will have somebody work the bingo for you.  The bingos are all located at Sarnia's Bingo Country.

Working the bingos is relatively easy.  It requires simple math skills.  The bingo hall staff are wonderful to work with and will tell you the prices for the bingos for the session.  You MUST arrive at the bingo hall a MINIMUM of 2 hours prior to start time in order to count cards, set up and sell cards.

If you have any questions about the bingos, please contact Jennifer McLean at mjmclean@amtelecom.net or alternatively president@glencoeskatingclub.com.

The address for the bingo hall is:
825 Upper Canada DriveSarnia, ON N7W 1A3  (519) 344-1045
